Senior Week Locker Decorations

Senior Week has become a popular event at High Schools to celebrate their graduating students. Here is one that I made for my daughter, Mindy in 2003. The design was created on a template provided by the school and the locker company so the finished product fits exactly.The next one down is from my middle child, Hanna from 2008. The template was used but she wanted it created in parts to re-use, so it is made in 3 sections: Childhood, Sr pic and Sr year with College Choice. The last one in this post is from my son Kevin and he graduated 2011. He wanted something cram packed with details and that's what he got!

When making this ornament to honor your student be sure to include some details like:
*Student's Name
*Senior Portrait
*Baby Pictures
*Activities or Sports
*Favorites Colors
*Future Aspirations
*College Choice with Colors & Mascot
*Congratulations & Good Luck!

These are just a few examples of what could be incorporated. Think of it as a collage or a giant greeting card!


Utilize past yearbooks for ideas along with a scrapbook supplies! After the project is complete, take it to an office supply or school supply store and have it laminated. Call ahead to make sure the shop offers wide laminating on a roll. Some places only have it by the sheet and your decoration will not fit in that machine. Also, it may take a while for the processor to warm up, so let them know that you are coming.


At the school, just secure it to your locker with clear packing tape! Don't forget to leave some goodies in the locker too!

Senior Trophy

With the end of school approaching, thoughts are not only about yearbooks and testing. It's also time to think about sports banquets and trophies. Here is an idea for a Senior or Graduating Athlete, especially if the player has been invovled with the team long term. This is a swimmers plaque for a summer league swim team. The parents were contacted and all the keepsakes from years gone by were collected and striped of the name plates. All star pins were also turned over to the committee. You can see by the photo that the engraver did a fabulous job of putting everything together!

Photo Tells The Story

You can find stationary with fun borders at office supply stores or even a discount department stores. These borders make a great backdrop for a fabulous photograph! Just use your printer and glue on the picture that show your team spirit!

Now that it is the new year, we are already looking forward to Spring Break, Graduation and then summer. The days left at school before this time, just flys by and being ready for parties, banquets and booster events takes quiet a bit of organization. Here is a tie-on favor used for a band end of season dinner that was attached to a rose for senior moms. Be Good to your Volunteers too!

Booster Club

A ''booster club'' is a group that is formed to raise money for a sports team, musical group or academic club through fundraising. They are especially popular at the high school level. These booster clubs are mostly run and organized by the parents of the students participating in these high school activities and by the fans and supporters of the activities. There are many fundraisers that are often used to support the booster club. These funds may be used to raise the money for new equipment, food & awards, locker decorating, summer camps and trip expenses to playoffs or competitions and performances. Booster club members should keep in mind that these events are for kids and it should be fun! By electing different board members each year,-your club should always have "New Blood" with fresh ideas.

The display above was from Eagles Tennis 2001. The photos are glued on to grocery store "Starbursts". The front of the star was neon orange, so the back was spray painted dark green around the edges. Use a scrapbook circle cutter or jumbo punch to cut the photographs. Make sure that the paint has cured or thoughally dried before writting the player's names. A big sharpie will write smoother on a completly dry surface.the Booster Club got permission from the school to place this Varsity display outside the Coach's room in the hall so all the students could see who made the team. Masking tape circles were used to apply finished stars to the wall.

Nose Art

Although wildly painted squadron insignia was common in World War I, true nose art did not occur until the Second World War. At the beginning of World War II, before the idea of painting an image on the skin of a plane arose, crews of the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) pasted pages from Esquire Magazine, Men Only, and Look magazine on the nose section, fuselage, and tail sections of the B-17 bombers known as Flying Fortresses. By the end of the war, there was such a demand for artists, who received up to $15.00 per aircraft, that nose art could be called an industry (Logan). The phenomenon peaked during the Second World War, but what were the reasons for this so-called "Golden Age" of nose art?
